The strategic product manager drives the product portfolio strategy, translates customer needs into marketable products and manages them during the entire life cycle. An important aspect of the product manager is being an ambassador internally and externally for the product. I love being a product manager since each new day is unique. In example, one day I am supporting our German colleagues with an exciting customer project and the other day I am in a strategy workshop with my product marketing colleagues in Linköping.

The product I am responsible for the TriSpector1000, a sensor that is used in production lines in the consumer goods and automotive industry. It is able to scan objects in motion and create 3D images out of it. By doing so our customer are able to detect defects or send object orientation coordinates to robots further down in the production line.

I found SICK Linköping by searching for product manager positions at LinkedIn and now I have been a product manager at Sick Linköping for four months. So far I have experienced many exciting things. For example, I have presented the features and customer benefits of my product portfolio to the organization Visual Sweden. Visual Sweden that is a hub promoting innovation within image analysis in Östergötland where many different companies are represented. Another experience is the yearly application engineering conference in southern Germany where all application engineers from the company all over the world gathers to network and share knowledge. I have also met several potential and existing customer of our company and been able to listen to their future needs in the 3D vision area.

The best so far in general is the encouraging, techie and social environment that SICK Linköping is offering. I know that each new day I will learn something new and I will have the opportunity to network and interact with colleagues from all over the world. And this is also the reason for why I joined SICK Linköping in the first place; the ability to engage with people all over the world and to work with high-tech products that make the world a little bit better each day.
